Heating case study 5

We were called to a poorly performing heating system in Chapel allerton in leeds. The problem that this customer had was that their heating system was a poorly installed one pipe system. None of the radiators never really got warm. The customer used portable electric heaters around the home to keep them warm. This system required a full upgrade to a two pipe system, which all heating systems use today. The ground floor of this property was relatively easy to do as all the pipework is in the cellar.  The issue we had was the first floor, this couldn’t have been done with out creating a lot of damage through out the house due to lifting floors that couldn’t be relayed.

The solution that we come up with was to split the system. We used a Spirotech low loss header. The low loss header allows us to run the two separate systems effectively. Two pipe system on the ground floor for heating and hot water and the one pipe system for the upstairs. We could use separate pumps for each circuit, setting them up to suit their demand.

The result was a toasty warm house throughout. A noticeable difference. Another job well done and another very happy customer.
