Creating A Bathroom Spa In A Modest Home
This is an unusual project as we start a bathroom from scratch Extensive work throughout the house provides the homeowner with a space unlike any other in this typical house. The design includes:
- Converting existing double bedroom into Luxury Bathroom
- Replace rotten chipboard flooring with new marine ply
- Reroute waste supplies and renew soil stack
- Create space for walk-in shower behind bath
- Jack & Jill sinks
- Install unvented hot water system
- Work alongside interior designer (BOXE designs)
From Bedroom To Luxury Bathroom
A fascinating bathroom job which required us to reroute all plumbing and waste supplies from an existing bathroom to a double bedroom. To complete the first fix, we needed to install a new soil stack and tap into the existing external drains.
Without a doubt, our first task involved repairing and replacing rotten floorboards to accommodate the heavy luxury bath. The hot water supply required upgrading to complement the high quality of this luxury bathroom. We installed unvented hot water supplies to increase the flow and capacity of hot water available, to ensure the bath could fill quickly and the shower could run smoothly. Also, a designer towel rail provides the heating requirements for the new bathroom.
Another benefit of working with an interior designer is the extra creativity that they posses, in this instance the chandelier hanging over the free standing bath. Another one of our favourite features from BOXE Design is the classy Jack and Jill sinks; it creates a communal space besides enjoying alone. This enhances further with the unique design of the walk-in shower behind the bath. We built a wall to isolate the bath and shower, emphasizing the sharing aspect of the design.
Finally, we finish the luxury bathroom in a beautiful marble affect tile on the floor and also floor to ceiling, ready for the bath installation. Additional finishing touches include the underlit storage and the magnificent chandelier which hangs over the bath. A very satisfying job and definitely one of our favourites, which goes to show what you can create in a space you no longer use.
